About Me / My Work

I believe most good healers and activists are called to our work through our wounds and that is what allows us to connect, be with, and fight for others on similar journeys. The root of the word “courage” is “heart.” I serve to inspire and support others in utilizing their courage to heal their wounds and live from their hearts.

I graduated from graduate school when I was 40, earning my Master’s in Social Work from a Decolonizing Social Work program headed largely by Indigenous people at Humboldt State University. I am a licensed clinical social worker and have been providing therapy in the state of California since 2014.

I worked for over 7 years in community mental health serving people of all ages from very diverse cultural and class backgrounds. I spent much of my life as a foreigner in other countries, learned to speak Spanish, and have been fortunate to be able to work with many immigrant families, documented and undocumented, from all over the world. I have sat with people who have been severely impacted by trauma from all walks of life and I find this work deeply spiritual.

I have studied Buddhism and the wisdom traditions with Vipassana meditation practice for nearly 20 years. From these personal practices as well as years of formal training, I bring mindfulness to my work. I have also been formally trained in various modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFSCA, 16 week comprehensive, advanced, and IFS Circle), Hakomi Professional Level 1 (somatic body centered work + mindfulness),  neuroscience and trauma (with Dr. Bruce Perry & Dr. Dan Siegel) and multiple formal diversity, inclusion, race, culture, and LGBTQIA+ trainings.

Independently, I continue to engage in deep studies and experiences of Attachment Theory, IFS, Jungian Psychology (including dream and shadow work), and Nature Based Ceremony. These studies profoundly inform me both personally and professionally.

I’m a hiker and backpacker, nature and animal lover, avid reader and writer, philosopher and soul led adventurer. My partner is Ecuadorian and we spend much of our time in Ecuador.
